Helena Hall

General Counsel

Helena Hall has been Senior Corporate Counsel for NMS since 2006. In her capacity as senior corporate counsel, Hall is responsible for contract negotiations, acquisitions, labor and employment and litigation management. Hall is Senior Corporate Counsel for NANA Development Corporation (NDC) and is assigned to NMS through NDC major ownership of the company.

In addition, to her senior corporate counsel responsibilities, Hall provides legal services focusing on labor and employment for NMS.  She manages labor and employment litigation, drafts executive employment agreements and compensation plans and advises on day-to-day labor and employment issues. She also assists with developing personnel policies and employee handbooks, pre-decision advice regarding employee discipline, discharge and reductions-in-force, and training for managers and supervisors regarding the prevention of discrimination, sexual harassment, wage and hour violation, wrongful discharge and how to insure compliance with the Family and Medical Leave Act and other laws governing the workplace.

Prior to joining NMS senior management, Hall was employed by the Anchorage office of Perkins Coie, working as a labor and employment lawyer.  Hall also worked in the Chicago office of Jenner & Block as an Associate, and as clerk to the Honorable Allen T. Compton of the Alaska Supreme Court. Hall also worked as a summer associate for Hancock, Rothert & Bunshoft in San Francisco, and as a summer intern for the United States Attorney’s Office, Eastern District of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia.

Hall received her J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School, and a B. A. in Philosophy from the University of Pennsylvania. She is admitted to practice in Alaska; Illinois (inactive) and United States District Courts: District of Alaska; Northern District of Illinois.
