Bill Freemel
Vice President Human Resources
Bill Freemel has served as Vice President of Human Resources for NMS since 2006.
Freemel provides both strategic direction and oversight to our human resources department. Freemel has over 20 years’ experience in human resources. Most recently he has designed and is implementing a series of training courses for NMS management.
Freemel worked for Sempra Energy for 29 years in a myriad of positions. Through his efforts, in 1998 Pacific Enterprises, now Sempra Energy, was named as the #1 company in diversity of all Fortune 500 Companies as named by FORTUNE magazine. Also in 1998 Sempra won the American Society of Training & Development Golden Circle Award for excellence in Training & Development for their career center and employee life-cycle programs, programs led by Freemel.
Freemel was the Director of Training for Alyeska Pipeline from 1999-2001 and was awarded a Gold Pan Award by the Governor for his work in co-founding the Alaska Process Industry Careers Consortium in 2001.
During 2001 to 2005, Freemel served as the Vice President of Human Resources for Steelscape. With Freemel at the helm they won several awards: 2003 Psychologically Healthy Workplace Award for large companies headquartered in the Sate of Washington for comprehensive human resource systems; 2003 NCCA Safety Award; and in 2004 Psychologically Healthy Workplace Award, presented by the American Psychological Association, for Best Practices in Staffing/Retention in the US & Canada. This last award was covered by FORTUNE magazine.
Freemel received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from CAL State Fullerton in 1981. Bill is currently serving on the Providence Children’s Hospital Advisory Board and on the Putting Alaska Resources to Work Planning Committee.
